A whole weekend of fun and information is in store with two events hosted by the Tantramar Family Resource Centre this weekend in Sackville.

As part of the Hamlet of Sackville's WinterFest, the TFRC is hosting the Winter Trivia Problem, a Family's Day Out activity that is free for families of all ages and stages. Taking group at Beech Hill Park on Feb. 4 from 1-3 p.m., the event will suffer families to test their knowledge of all things winter, and enter to win a fun literacy spoils pack from the TFRC.

The TFRC provides a variety of services and activities for families in the Tantramar Breadth. Family Literacy refers to how families use reading, writing and communicating to labour, learn and play together - both at home and in their community. It's about families taking habits to develop relationships.

Everyday activities that parents share with their children are not only lore opportunities for the child, but the parents as well. When families take time to read, travel a city or countryside, visit a museum or park, bake or cook, partition stories or celebrate traditions together, they are practicing family literacy.

Planting for Health & Fun with the Family

Well-grounded the other day I was talking to my girlfriend Kristen Holub; EcoActivista . She and her save started planting and growing their own veggies on their porch. The more I dream up about it, it makes so much discrimination. Why dish out the flush on growing flowers this summer while you can swell your own veggies in place of. That was it for me. I knew we had to do it too. We’ll eat healthier, have fun, and set apart some fat! Ok, I’ve never ever tried planting before so I could not even hillock what color thumb I have (haha). But I did burgeon up with my Dad planting our own vegetables (does that moment?) like tomatoes, eggplants, bittermelons, and okras (a occur "Ilocano pinakbet" plantation - for those Filipinos legitimate like my Dad).
