The Section of Dining Services recently held its annual Culinary Olympics on Thursday Jan. 12, at the Rome Commons Ballroom on the South Campus of the University of Connecticut . The annual occasion, in its 12th year, featured three exciting events: The Recipe Contest, the Pastry Decorating Challenge and the Boiling Point Competition.

Dishes were judged on criteria which included air, creativity, technique, taste, texture and use of ingredients and materials.

The Way Contest featured appetizers, entree's and desserts, and "The World of Walt Disney" was the treatise of the Cake Decorating Challenge.

The Boiling Point Competition was nearly the same to an Iron Chef Competition and involved teams of three chefs representing the many dining facilities within the department. Each team was presented with a mystery box of ingredients, and using a few laddie items from the facility's pantry, prepared three different Tapas on each charger. Each team had one and half hours to prepare their dishes for the judges.
