Amanda Ross, 16, began the day on Jan. 28 perfectly like any other day.

By the end of the evening, she was wearing the Miss New Jersey Outstanding Teen Her Highness and preparing to represent the state in the Miss America Outstanding Teen extravaganza in Orlando, Fla.

Amanda, a Gloucester County Institute of Technology, School in of Performing Arts dance student, has participated in approximately six pageants since she was 13 years old, but this is her most high-ranking title to date.

“It was so amazing,” Amanda said. “The gloom I was crowned, I was in complete shock. It was very surprising, like a slap in the aspect, it was so unexpected. There were no words for the feeling.”

Her mother, Amy Ross, agreed that the seriousness was “amazing.”

“Watching her be crowned was one of the most amazing things a pamper could ever watch,” she said. “Knowing your daughter is fulfilling her dreams and structure her self confidence as a young lady.

Bullying focus of vigil for teen who committed suicide | mendez ...
