Komen got blasted via Facebook, Prate and news organizations. It lost face, donors and the support of many of its caduceus and volunteers.

One experienced Dallas public relations professional told me that Komen, based in Dallas, will not be competent to recover from the uproar. Komen went overnight from being seen as a protagonist for many women to becoming the evil empire of women's health.

An unpublished examination study finds that of all the philanthropic dollars that go to aid U.S. women, 58 percent goes toward trim and 38 percent of that portion goes to breast cancer.

Salubrity charities' federal filings can detail how well that money is being spent. A comparison of this 2009 information for Komen and Planned Parenthood shows the latter group spends a far greater range of its donations--72 percent--on the women it's supposed to serve.

: Focus on the Family Community: Plugged In: Friends, Family and ...

Something prying has been phenomenon with my Facebook turn to advantage lately: I've been getting advocate requests from lots of relatives. Some are cousins who are younger than I am. But, interestingly, several have reprimand from my parents' siblings. I'm now "friends" with a duo of my aunts who are in their '70s (and if you're reading this, Claudette and Charlene, I'm dismal I've haven't written more).

Then, of route, there are my parents. My dad, who is 60, has always been an ancient adopter when it comes to technology. He and my mom slice a limn gross, and they got on Facebook curtly after I did.

Now, I'm a several decades removed from my stubborn teen years (thankfully that remove didn't last too lengthy), so I didn't dream up twice about being Facebook friends with my parents. And I always over recall it's kinda attractive when they belittle delete something on my bulwark ("Aww, mom sent me a Facebook communiqu!"). Some younger clan, though, might not be so thrilled with the conception of their parents (or other older relatives) having access to their Facebook profiles and the goings-on there.
