Six people were reportedly infected with Campylobacter bacteria after consuming raw, unpasteurized bleed that is suspected to be linked to The Family Cow dairy store in Chambersburg, according to a gossip release from the Pennsylvania Department of Health issued on Friday.

The salubrity department is advising anyone who purchased raw milk from the store after Jan. 1 to trash it after six confirmed cases of Campylobacter have been reported — three in Pennsylvania and three in Maryland.

Proprietor Edwin Shank said tests at the store came back unenthusiastic for the bacteria.

Symptoms

The bacteria can cause mild or severe diarrhea, fever, abdominal cramps and blood in the stool, according to the well-being department news release. People who become infected with the bacteria — which can be gained through consuming raw or undercooked nutriment — usually recover within two to five days, but symptoms can last up to 10 days.
