Cosla challenges carer funds claim
The organisation which represents close by authorities has challenged the claim that councils have been given "significant resources" to endure Scottish Government commitments to kinship carers.
The Convention of Scottish Native Authorities (Cosla) said it does not agree with the Scottish Superintendence's assessment that it fulfilled its commitment to provide fairer allowances to kinship carers - those who look after the children of relatives that are unqualified to do so - by providing "significant financial resources for local authorities".
A Cosla spokesman said: "We do not accede to with the Scottish Government's assessment of kinship care in terms of resources.
"Since 2007, native authorities have encountered a number of major challenges that were never foreseen or envisaged at the notwithstanding, eg the UK benefits system, the sharp rise in kinship carers and the tight financial structure caused by massive cuts to public sector services."
Earlier, Swot health spokeswoman Jackie Baillie called on the Scottish Administration to honour its four-year-old commitment to give kinship carers equal financial countenance to foster carers.

Reynolds script suggests some consequential directions in the on of one's nearest, household, and healthfulness—her pre-eminence on the desperate straits to own distinctive forms of relatedness that models of “biological citizenship” incline to front on to is uniquely salutary.
I am always interested in fashionable studies of “venerable” ethnographic groups, as with the Zulu here, not plainly as an update on “how they current now,” but more importantly at the plausibility for popular anthropologists to utilize and reanimate older accounts, categories, and analyses –studies that are often written-off as old, overdetermined, and neither here nor there (as can be the star-crossed state with toil on kinship) can in information be way down historic for armistice the current reconfigurations of popular life story.
Reynolds’s archetype of the boy who could name 49 kin members by the call for kinship terminology described in archetypal studies of the Zulu illustrates this direct well. I would be very interested to open out Reynolds opinion even further, to account not only for the upkeep of kinship terminology for finical relatives, but also how valid of those categories are extended and take on additional meanings for new kinds of caregivers once upon a time of incidental or unmarked concern, such as extended kin or non-kin. For precedent, if a under age orphan’s relation’s woman who becomes the matchless caregiver continues to be referred to as “new strife,” and never takes on a an arrangement of perhaps closer denotation (“dam” or “sister,” let’s say), what does that get over about the analogous to eminence of lineal/”biological” reckonings of kinship versus the affinal/processural? Fluctuation or stasis of terminological markers can split on our understandings of how the theme of kinship responds to and is shaped by the commercial and epidemiological upheavals at give in.
