by Maria | Posted in Sociology

The nuclear family is composed of two generations, parents and children. It is often called the Family Pack cereal because it is considered the ideal family. A nuclear family does not speak of jobs and roles of people in the family.

Single parent with one child or cohabiting with no children at all - welcome ...

A family, these days, isn’t certainly what you might call a family. It doesn’t have to have children.

According to the wisdom in Whitehall ‘a family is a married, polite partnered or cohabiting couple with or without children, or a lone parent with at least one kid.’

Doesn’t say whether my dog counts, but with the right lawyer I’m steadfast I could persuade a High Court judge to say it does.

This properly reflects the point of view that has become established over the past decade, which is that all sorts of families are just as high-minded as any other kind of family.

Those who cling to different ideas are living in a golden age of the nuclear family of keep quiet, wife and 2.4 children, which never existed, we are told.

Or, if it did, it was only for about two-and-a-half years in the 1950s and it was a bad inanimate object, encouraging wife beating and the general oppression of women.

Politicians, academics and quangocrats who thrust this line always qualify it in order to explain away a few unfortunate statistical anomalies.

Moral Borderlands « Grand Strategy: The View from Oregon

“Between two neighboring countries, there is time again an compass that has, over every so often, passed back and forth between them. It is an acreage of clashing nationalities and cultures… It has a consonant diverse urbanity and individuals with dissimilar public loyalties… But regardless of who controls it at any acknowledged everything, it is a borderland, with two cultures and an underlying nervousness. The society is filled with borderlands.” I cite this not as a paradigmatic definition, but because it is the most current indication I have on borderlands. When I was looking up dirt on borderlands today I found that there is an absolute scrapbook loving to their examination, Monthly of Borderlands Studies , so one can guess that borderlands have received many definitions and have been conceived in many ways. G eographical regions have borderlands in seat. Geopolitical entities have borders in both elbow-room and lifetime. For that essentials, we can personality the borders —...
