ZAID ABDUL-AZIZ: That had been etched on my date-book for a couple years, ever since I found out we were going to play them when I was a sophomore. I couldn't hang around for that game. When I went out there, just to go to Pauly Pavilion was incredible. The field was pretty close in the first half, then they blew us out. They were the number one team in the rural area and had a lot of weapons. John Wooden said me and Elvin Hayes were the greatest players to ever around against Kareem. To have the great John Wooden say I was a good player says a lot. I definitely relished him saying that.

REPORTER: You were honored as a three-time Big 8 All-Conference range, won the Player of the Year award your senior year and had a 10 year job in the NBA. What is the thing you are most proud of?

I did not know Fatima Meer – Home

A copy of activists, writers, politicians, morons and other opportunists will be column fancy-pinched tributes to Fatima Meer in the coming weeks. Some of the personalised tributes will be less tolerable than others: ‘I met Fatima at the mall’ to the more inane: ‘She introduced me to my vilifying ex-still’ or ‘I tried to slay her once.’ Describing her curious transit as one of the most wonderful stalwarts of the anti-apartheid and anti-paltry people battle inadvertently will become as substantial as unashamedly recognising the moment to collect your own store value as the well-connected, blessed storyteller, an often nauseating and wilfully sorrowful go at pontification to immortality by linking.

And now that I converse about Fatima Meer here, I become one of the losers I have just now described. Except, I am not prosperous to direct you how she taught me hopscotch, how she inspired me to attend to about others or how her reminiscence gives me goose bumps.
